We gave three AI app builders the same booking-app prompt
A guide by Builddu, which makes one of the builders covered. We are not affiliated with Lovable or Shipper.now. Tested 2 September 2026.
Our own test. Builddu is one of the three platforms tested.
All three platforms may have changed since 2 September 2026. Each result below reflects one run, on one account’s plan state that day — not a standing statement about the product.
The prompt
On 2 September 2026 we ran this prompt, unchanged, on Lovable, Shipper.now and Builddu. To reproduce the test, paste it into each builder exactly as it stands.
Build a booking and scheduling app for a boutique hair salon called "Luna Hair Studio". Customers should be able to book appointments online by choosing a service (haircut, coloring, styling, treatment), a stylist, and an available time slot. Include: a public booking page for customers, an admin dashboard for the salon owner to see upcoming appointments, manage services and stylists, and view basic stats (bookings this week, estimated revenue). Store everything in a real database — no mock/fake data. Clean, modern, professional design.
Results on 2 September 2026, at a glance
| Platform | How the build ended | Completing a booking |
|---|---|---|
| Lovable | Paused mid-way: the account ran out of credits. | Worked end to end in what had been built before the pause, including a full confirmation screen with a reference number. |
| Shipper.now | Fastest of the three to finish. | Did not work without paying. |
| Builddu | Finished, after about 2.5 minutes of environment preparation before app generation began. | Worked, through to a full confirmation screen. |
Listed alphabetically, ours last. The order is not a ranking.
Lovable
In this test, the build paused mid-way because the account ran out of credits. The message read: “Your work is paused because you've run out of credits. 5 credits arrive in 11 hours.”
The booking flow already built before the pause still worked end to end, including a full confirmation screen with a reference number. So the pause affected further edits and features, not what had already been completed at the point it stopped.
Lovable's mid-build pause was initially read here as a competitive weakness to avoid at all costs — that read was reversed later the same day. On closer look, the pause was soft, not destructive: everything already built kept working perfectly (we clicked a real booking through to confirmation on the paused project), only further progress was frozen until a top-up.
Shipper.now
In this test, Shipper.now was the fastest of the three to finish, with polished visual output (“3 edits made,” all complete).
In this test, completing a booking did not work without paying. The fast result was closer to a gated preview/demo than a finished usable app.
Builddu (ours)
In this test, Builddu spent about 2.5 minutes preparing the environment before app generation began.
The finished app had a complete, real database (8 services, 4 stylists), a working booking flow through to a full confirmation screen (service, stylist, date, price and address), and an admin dashboard.
What this test does not show
- It is one run per platform, on one day. A second run could have finished differently.
- Nothing here is scored or ranked.
- It reflects each account’s plan state on 2 September 2026. Lovable’s pause depended on the credits that account had that day.
- This page gives no durations beyond Shipper.now finishing first and Builddu’s roughly 2.5 minutes of environment preparation.
- It is not a statement about the platforms today: all three may have changed since.
A second test: a veterinary app, 10 September 2026
On 10 September 2026, separately from the booking-app test, we built a veterinary clinic app on Builddu, “Verdant Vet”, and compared it with a real app built on Lovable, “Willowbrook”.
In our favour
The running Lovable app showed an “Edit with Lovable” badge in its bottom right, inside the app itself. Our build showed no platform branding at all.
Against us
On the Appointments screen, Willowbrook had two legitimate functional advantages that Verdant Vet lacked: filtering by a specific vet, and clearer semantic status colours — green for Completed and red for Cancelled, where Verdant Vet used a more neutral blue and orange for Scheduled and Checked-in. That screen was not a win for us.
On the Clients screen
On 10 September 2026, Willowbrook used the same @example.com address pattern for every contact we inspected. Verdant Vet used a mix of domains including gmail.com, mail.de, correo.es, proton.me and outlook.com, and also showed pet names, a status column and a filter.
