Builddu vs Lovable

An AI app builder with a credit-based ladder of plans and Git sync on every tier.

 BuildduLovable
Time to a working appIn our own comparative test (a real booking app — database, admin dashboard, full booking flow), Builddu delivered a complete, working app in one pass, no interruption. In the same test, Lovable's build paused partway through when its trial credits ran out (“5 credits arrive in 11 hours”). Everything built before the pause kept working — including a full booking confirmation flow — but finishing the app required waiting for more credits.
BackendFull-stack: every project ships with server-side code, not a static front end.A monthly “Cloud” grant covers their built-in backend; how much usage that permits is not stated.
DatabaseManaged database included in every project, with no setup step.Part of the built-in backend. Their Cloud page: Lovable “includes a built-in backend (Cloud) with a database, storage, authentication, realtime, and functions.”
AuthenticationThe build agent is instructed to generate sign-up, login and sessions. Observed in builds, not guaranteed. Also part of Cloud, listed in the same sentence as the database and storage on their Cloud page.
Who owns the codeYou own what you build — our terms say so — and the full source can be pushed to a GitHub repository you control.“You do. You own your code, which means the apps, websites, and other projects you build with Lovable, customer data stored in Lovable, as well as any AI output you generate in Lovable. (This is subject to any third-party rights in the underlying AI models.)”
DeploymentOne click to production. Publishing costs 1 credit.Projects publish to a live URL, hosted under the plan's monthly Cloud grant.
Custom domainsConnect your own domain to a published app.Custom domains are available on Pro, Business and Enterprise — not on the free plan.
PricingStarter $20/month for 100 credits, Pro $49/month for 300, Business $99/month for 600. Top-up: 100 credits for $19.Free: 5 build credits a day, capped at 30 a month, plus monthly 20-credit Cloud and 4-credit AI grants. Pro runs from $25/month for 100 credits to $2,250/month for 10,000. Business covers the same credit amounts and runs from $50 to $4,300 a month.

The time in the first row is one run of our own test. The write-up of that booking-app test has the prompt we used and what each builder produced.

The pricing row squeezes Lovable’s plans into a single line. Our full breakdown of Lovable’s pricing sets out every plan and what a credit actually buys.

What Lovable is good at

  • Design-led work where the look of the result matters most
  • Anyone who wants Git sync on the free plan rather than as a paid upgrade
  • Users whose usage varies a lot month to month and who want to move up a rung at a time

Where Lovable is the better choice

  • Git sync to GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket on every plan, including the free one — though downloading the code starts at Pro.
  • A daily credit allowance that renews, so the free plan stays usable rather than running out once.
  • A far finer-grained pricing ladder — eleven rungs against our three tiers.
  • A 50% student and teacher discount on Pro, for up to 12 months — we have no equivalent.

Where we fall short

Our own weaknesses, in our own words. They apply whichever product you compare us with.

  • We are newer and smaller than every product on this list, with a shorter track record behind the apps we generate.
  • Deep app analytics, integrations, and version history aren't built yet — they're planned, not available today.
  • We do not have the community, templates and tutorials that the larger platforms have accumulated.
  • Build times can vary — during busier periods a build may take longer than usual. We're working to make wait times more predictable.

Which one should you use?

It depends on what you are building and who you are. Here is our honest read.

If the other name on your shortlist is Base44 rather than us, we have weighed Lovable against Base44 as well, with Builddu kept out of the side-by-side.

Someone who cares most about how the result looks

Either

We are not calling this one. Neither company publishes anything about design quality that you could check, and an impression of ours is not evidence — the same standard that keeps a design verdict off our Lovable-versus-Base44 page. What we can tell you firsthand is that design polish is not what we optimise for.

Someone who wants the whole app — backend, database, auth — in one pass

Either

Lovable's Cloud page documents a database, authentication and storage inside its built-in backend, so their public pages no longer say less here than ours do.

A heavy user who will spend hundreds a month either way

Either

At that volume the pricing ladders converge and the deciding factor is which output you prefer to maintain.

Weighing more than one builder? We also keep our list of Lovable alternatives, which sets several of them side by side rather than just us and them.

Sources

Claims about Lovable are read from their own public pages on the date shown. Anything drawn from our own testing is named as ours below. Products change, so every source below carries the date we last read it; the older that date, the more worth checking against the original.

If a figure here is out of date or wrong, tell us at support@builddu.com.

Lovable is a trademark of its owner. We name it for comparison and use no logos or branding of theirs.

Try it yourself

The fastest way to settle a comparison is to describe the same app to both and see what comes back.
