Builddu vs Bolt
An AI builder for websites, apps and prototypes, metered in tokens rather than in runs.
| Builddu | Bolt | |
|---|---|---|
| Time to a working app | not measured against Bolt (as of 21 September 2026) | no measured build time published (as of 21 September 2026) |
| Backend | Full-stack: every project ships with server-side code, not a static front end. | “Bolt Cloud gives you enterprise-grade backend infrastructure including hosting, databases, integrations and more.” |
| Database | Managed database included in every project, with no setup step. | “Unlimited databases” on Free and Pro; Pro adds expanded capacity and a choice of database provider. |
| Authentication | The build agent is instructed to generate sign-up, login and sessions. Observed in builds, not guaranteed. | “User Management & Authentication” is listed as part of Bolt Cloud. |
| Who owns the code | You own what you build — our terms say so — and the full source can be pushed to a GitHub repository you control. | “All code that you create with Bolt and StackBlitz is your own code, which you can use for any legal purpose including commercial purposes.” |
| Deployment | One click to production. Publishing costs 1 credit. | Website hosting is included on the Free and Pro plans. |
| Custom domains | Connect your own domain to a published app. | Custom domain support is listed under the Pro plan. |
| Pricing | Starter $20/month for 100 credits, Pro $49/month for 300, Business $99/month for 600. Top-up: 100 credits for $19. | Free $0 (300K tokens/day, 1M/month). Pro $25/month billed monthly, starting at 10M tokens/month. Teams $30 per member/month. Enterprise custom. |
The pricing row squeezes Bolt’s plans into a single line. Our full breakdown of Bolt’s pricing sets out every plan and what a credit actually buys.
What Bolt is good at
- Projects that begin from an existing Figma file or GitHub repository
- Work where a per-token budget suits you better than a price per run
- Sites that want hosting, a database and a custom domain from one vendor
Where Bolt is the better choice
- Their free plan refreshes daily — 300K tokens a day, 1M a month — where our free credits are granted once.
- Unused tokens roll over to the next month on Pro.
- Pro lets you choose your database provider; with us you get the one we manage.
Where we fall short
Our own weaknesses, in our own words. They apply whichever product you compare us with.
- We are newer and smaller than every product on this list, with a shorter track record behind the apps we generate.
- Deep app analytics, integrations, and version history aren't built yet — they're planned, not available today.
- We do not have the community, templates and tutorials that the larger platforms have accumulated.
- Build times can vary — during busier periods a build may take longer than usual. We're working to make wait times more predictable.
Which one should you use?
It depends on what you are building and who you are. Here is our honest read.
Someone starting from an existing Figma file or GitHub repository
Bolt offers both as starting points; a Builddu project starts from a prompt.
Someone who would rather not watch a token budget while they build
We charge credits per run; their free plan caps tokens per day and their paid plans by the month.
A developer doing long, open-ended iteration
Token metering with monthly rollover can work out cheaper or dearer than a price per run, depending on how you work.

Try it yourself
The fastest way to settle a comparison is to describe the same app to both and see what comes back.
